THE HEALING CRISIS
Occasionally, herbal remedies or food supplements will seemingly make you feel worse when you begin using them. DO NOT BE ALARMED! This is simply a "healing crisis" or "cleansing reaction" that normally occurs during the process of eliminating various residues of toxicity (such as toxic metabolic waste materials {uric acid, excess mucus, etc.}, synthetic drugs or other chemicals, food additives, pesticides or other environmental toxins, etc.). It is merely an indication that the herbal remedies are effectively removing these harmful accumulations by utilizing the various channels of elimination (including the skin, bowels, kidneys and urinary tract). This "feeling worse before feeling better" syndrome is quite similar to that which is experienced during a normal cleansing 'fast', and is an extremely safe and effective method for the removal of various impurities or foreign (inorganic) substances that are stored within the cellular tissues of the body over an extended period of time. This reaction may be mild or severe (but not life-threatening), depending upon the seriousness of the disease and the length of time it has existed in the physical body.
One or more of the following symptoms may occur during a healing crisis, including skin eruptions, nausea, headaches, diarrhea, colds, boils, pains, cramps, dizziness, unusual fatigue or sleepiness (additional energy is required by the body in order to perform this cleansing), or any other manner that the body may employ in order to loosen, dissolve or eliminate these toxins. These symptoms appear to be identical to the disease itself, but the important difference is that a cleansing or purifying process is underway and various stored toxic waste materials are in a free-flowing state. Such a crisis may continue for a week or more, and one crisis may not always be sufficient in order to accomplish a complete and total return to a state of health and well-being.
